If there is banding its most likely from the game, not from the range you use. There is also Ycbcr also limited range which movies are encoded in and may be the best idea for HTPC if you watch a lot of movies but in practice it does not really matter which you use as far as quality is concerned.

The first option is ycbcr which I assume means chroma, however the dynamic range is stuck at "limited". The second option is RGB and it lets me choose "full" for the dynamic range but no mention of chroma.

I can't really see a difference visually between the two. I'm wondering which option would be better. If you guys have any insight I would really appreciate it.

I was reading on some other sites that full RGB is the best. I also did some testing and both the full RGB setting and also the YCbCr setting are giving me full chroma output on my television, so that's good news really. Like I said, I can't really tell any difference between the two. I have a feeling RGB is better because it's allowing me to select "full" dynamic range which in theory should give me deeper blacks and a better image overall.

If you guys have any more information I would appreciate it! Thanks Greg. The real unfortunate thing here is that HDR support in Windows 10 is completely broken for nVidia cards. I have confirmed that this is affecting a large number of people with a variety of different HDR televisions from LG, Samsung, and Sony. Basically here's the deal. There is a toggle switch in the Windows 10 graphics settings not the nVidia control panel. When I toggle HDR "on", my screen gets completely messed up with horrible colors, a washed out look, and all kinds of artifacts.

This also happens if I select or chroma and try to enable 10 or 12 bit color, which is a requirement for HDR. I really hope nVidia and Microsoft can sort this out quickly. I really want to see how HDR looks in its full glory. Right now I'm not seeing the full benefit because I'm stuck at 8 bit color.

I am new to these forums, so apologies in advance if I posted in the wrong subforum. To my knowledge, HDR affects color space as well, despite the emphasis on dynamic range. And this is where I get confused. What would provide me with a better viewing experience overall? The brightness and contrast look great! However, I am limited to 8 bpc.

Is that not crippling to HDR and "deep color"? However, the dynamic range is defaulted to limited, and test patterns do not display blacks below 17 and whites above Is that not also crippling to HDR? It seems sort of an oxymoron to play high dynamic range content whilst being capped at a limited dynamic range.

I do remember seeing a poster in another thread say that video is "always" coded betweenbut wasn't sure if he meant HDR as well. But why would the dynamic range see the improvement from turning on this color feature, and not the actual output color depth?

I am certain that this TV can display both a 10 bit color output and a full dynamic range. However, I am uncertain how to achieve both at the same time. Thank you.
